KD DR. MED. THOMAS ROTH

– Specialist Otolaryngology and Cervicofacial Surgery (FMH).
– Ultrasound of the neck and thyroid (SSUM)

Dr Thomas Roth received his Federal Medical Diploma in 2003 and his medical degree from the University of Bern in 2008. During his educational career, he undertook specialist training in ENT at the Inselspital Bern and the University Hospital Zurich between 2004 and 2009. In 2012, he became an FMH specialist in cervicofacial surgery.

He held the position senior physician at Inselspital Bern in 2009 and then also at the University Hospital Zurich from 2010 to 2016. Since 2016 he has also held the position of Clinical Lecturer at the same University of Zurich.

He was deputy chief physician of the department of rhinology, otology and head neck.

During his long career as senior physician, he acquired in-depth knowledge in all areas of ENT. At the same time as working as a doctor in the clinic, he devoted his passion to scientific research, which is reflected in numerous publications in different fields of his speciality. He had a particular interest in the vestibular organ and hearing with all its aspects related to communication, both neuro-physiologically, neuro-linguistically, interpersonally and psychosomatically.

In addition to conservative aspects, he has gained extensive surgical experience, in addition to basic ENT surgery, such as:

  • Endoscopic surgery of the paranasal sinuses and skull base
  • Functional, aesthetic and reconstructive rhinoplasty
  • Ear microsurgery
  • Aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery
  • Thyroid and parathyroid surgery
  • Oncological neck surgery with reconstruction using skin and muscle flaps.

In 2016, he joined Centromedico in Ticino; in addition to contributing significantly to the organisation and development of ENT, he set up the cervicofacial surgery and outpatient surgery service.

In 2020, he decided to strike out on his own and founded Studio OTORINO Ticino.

In the consultation, not only factors that contribute to the disease are discussed, but aspects that support a person’s health and wellbeing (salutogenesis) are focused on.

He speaks Italian, German, Swiss German, French, English and Greek fluently.
